HGBCS Middle School Enrichment Opportunities

Girls of Grace Discipleship - The Girls of Grace discipleship group meets weekly.  It is comprised of middle school girls in grades 6-8.  The focus of this group is to help middle school girls grow spiritually during their challenging adolescent years.

“Just Say Yes” Boy’s Discipleship - The middle school guy’s discipleship program, encourages 6th through 8th grade boys to focus on the great and exciting things in life that God has for us if we will just say YES to Him.

Student Council - Student council is comprised of students in grades 6-8 who are elected by their peers to serve.

National Beta Club – The purpose of the National Beta Club is to promote the ideals of character, service and leadership among middle school students, to reward meritorious achievement and to encourage and assist students in continuing their education after high school.

Geography Bee – The ACSI Geography bee is an academic contest that test student’s knowledge of world geography.

Spelling Bee - This bee is sponsored by ACSI and test student’s mastery of spelling.

Math Olympics – Math Olympics is an ACSI sponsored mathematical competition that test problem solving and computation skills

Duke University Talent Identification Program – Academically gifted 7th grade math students are eligible for the Duke TIP.  This program identifies academically talented students in the area of math and exposes them to enrichment opportunities.

Hickory Grove Dance Company - The vision of the Hickory Grove Dance Company is a performance group of Hickory Grove students that will impact the school and community for Christ through the fine art of dance.  The heart of the company will always be to use our talents in dance to worship the Lord and to create soul-stirring, thought-provoking, and Christ-centered pieces that can be used for ministry in worship services and in the community as a witnessing tool.  The intent is to be a light in the community that represents Christ and HGBCS.

The Mane News Middle School Newsletter - The middle school’s monthly newsletter, The Mane News, is comprised of middle school students who write columns for the middle school students.  The columns span a number of topics, from “The Lion and the Lamb,” the monthly devotional, to “Stylin’ and Profilin’,” the column devoted to making the dress code fashionable.
